Civil and structural engineering and permitting assistance were provided for a 44,000 square foot, three-story, manufacturing and office building, and 30,000 square foot, steel framed addition.
The structural design for NRG’s headquarters was driven by the high-performance envelope and daylighting program. Insulated column bases, an engineered lumber façade supports, SIP roof overhangs, and doubled open-web steel joists were some of the specified systems to minimize operation energy use and increase occupant sensibility. Civil services included site plan, erosion control plan, utility plan, sanitary water, sewer, and stormwater treatment.
This was one of the first manufacturers worldwide to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
