Structural engineering services were provided for two properties at the newly developed Thayer Commons, former site of the Thayer School.
Phase I of Thayer House is a structure consisting of 3-stories of light framed construction over a steel framed floor above at-grade basement parking. The foundation is a shallow frost protected matt-slab.There are 33 units of energy efficient, senior housing with common areas and support services. Phase II is underway and will provide an additional 28 units.
Avenue Apartments is similar in construction to the Thayer House and
offers 33 apartment units to low, moderate and market rate singles and
families. The building was designed to be extremely energy efficient and
includes roof-mounted photovoltaic solar panels which produce more
electricity than the building uses.
